April 593 Prince Shotoku establishes Kyoden-in of Shitennoji Temple.
April 1922 Shitennoji Gakuen founded and starts operation of Tennoji Women’s High School (today’s Shitennoji Junior and Senior High Schools).
April 1957 Shitennoji Gakuen Women’s Junior College (Department of Health) established in Motomachi in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City. (Department of Health discontinued in September 2009.)
April 1958 Department of Clothing established in Shitennoji Gakuen Women’s Junior College (discontinued in March 1986).
April 1962 Department of Food established in Shitennoji Gakuen Women’s Junior College (department’s name changed to Department of Food Nutrition in January 1967, but department discontinued in December 1986).
April 1967

Junior college renamed Shitennoji Women’s Junior College. Department of Child Education established, and college moved to Habikino City.

Shitennoji Women’s College established with Faculty of Literature (Department of Buddhism, Department of Education, and Department of Literature) in Habikino City.

April 1974 Department of History established in Faculty of Literature, Shitennoji Women’s College (discontinued in March 1989).
April 1981 College separated into Shitennoji International Buddhist University (co-educational) and Shitennoji International Buddhist University Junior College (women only).
April 1983 Department of Language and Culture established in Faculty of Literature, Shitennoji International Buddhist University. Department of Home Economics and Department of English established in Shitennoji International Buddhist University Junior College (discontinued in September 2009).
April 1984 Shitennoji International Buddhist High School and Shitennoji International Buddhist Junior High School established.
April 1986 Department of Sociology established in Faculty of Literature, Shitennoji International Buddhist University.
April 1990 Shitennoji International Buddhist High School and Shitennoji International Buddhist Junior High School renamed Shitennoji Habikigaoka High School and Shitennoji Habikigaoka Junior High School, respectively.
April 1998 Department of Human Welfare established in Faculty of Literature, Shitennoji International Buddhist University.
April 2000 Faculty of Literature of Shitennoji International Buddhist University renamed Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
April 2001 Major in Home Economics and Major in Life Welfare established in Department of Home Economics, Shitennoji International Buddhist University Junior College.
April 2003

Doctoral and Master’s Courses in Human Welfare, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shitennoji International Buddhist University Graduate School established.

Shitennoji International Buddhist University Junior College becomes co-educational.

April 2006 Major in Social Welfare and Major in Child Education established in Department of Human Welfare, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shitennoji International Buddhist University.
April 2008

Graduate school, university, and junior college renamed Shitennoji University Graduate School, Shitennoji University, and Shitennoji University Junior College, respectively.

Major in Chinese Language and Asian Culture (formerly Major in Arabic Studies) in Department of Language and Culture, and Department of English Studies established in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Department of Education established in Faculty of Education; and Department of Business Administration established in Faculty of Business Administration.

April 2009 Shitennoji Gakuen Elementary School established.
April 2010 Department of Home Economics and Major in Home Economics in Shitennoji University Junior College renamed Department of Life Navigation and Major in Life Design, respectively.
April 2012 Department of Japanese Studies and Department of Global Studies established in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Major in Social Welfare, Department of Human Welfare renamed Major in Health and Social Welfare; and Major in Life Welfare, Department of Life Navigation, Shitennoji University Junior College renamed Major in Life Care and Welfare.
April 2014 Elementary School and Early Childcare Course, Department of Education, Faculty of Education renamed Elementary School and Early Childhood Education Course, and nursery teacher training program established.
Shitennoji Gakuen Junior High School established.
2016 Major in Public Management and Major in Corporate Management established in Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business Administration, Shitennoji University.
2017

Shitennoji Gakuen Elementary School renamed Shitennoji Elementary School.

Shitennoji Gakuen Senior High School established (co-educational).

April 2019 The Faculty of Nursing, Department of Nursing was created. The Faculty of Education, Department of Education, Elementary School and Early Childhood Course, Junior High School English and Elementary School Course, and Health Education Course were restructured into four courses. These are the Elementary School Education Course, Early Childhood Education Course, Junior or Senior High School English Education Course, and Health Education Course.
April 2020 The Graduate School of Nursing, Major in Nursing (Doctoral Course 1st and 2nd Semester) will be created.
2022 Shitennoji Gakuen marked its 100th anniversary.
